The Macon Bulls is an affiliate of The Amateur Athletic Union /AAU
The Macon Bulls is a youth amateur basketball team. This program was designed to help develop youth into the total athlete. Our primary purpose is to help the youths in our program do well academically while developing their athletic abilities. Our team travels to several states to play in AAU tournaments.
Our program was initiated in January of 2008. It consists of volunteers totally committed to the success of this program. Our mission is to create life long learners who will go on to become productive members of society. Without this program many of the youths that are currently in our program would not have the strong male role models we have present to help them succeed. Many of the youths come from low income home environments with very few opportunities to participate in organized sports programs which travel outside their local community.
We offer a very positive outlet for the young men and women who participate with us. The Macon Bulls consist of boys ages 15-17. Some of our boys need full instruction in the fundamentals of basketball, while others are very talented youths who are planning to attend college within a few years.
Everyone involved in our program feels very strongly that education is the number one key to success, but that athletics is an important aspect also. We are providing a safe and effective program which encompasses both of these domains.
This program often provides these young men with a safe haven from the cruel streets many of them are growing up in. It takes time, dedication, and funds to keep a program floating. We hold fundraisers on a regular basis to raise funds for our trips, but much of the money to run this program comes from the volunteers within the program. That is why we are working especially hard to find support for this positive amateur athletic league.
